According to insider Pete O’Rourke, Liverpool are planning to sign a new right-back because of ongoing concerns about Jeremie Frimpong. O’Rourke also stated that Liverpool feel they can upgrade their options at right-back, as Frimpong may not be good enough. Fans on social media consider Frimpong's performance against Manchester City to be the latest reason the defender should be moved on.

Jeremie Frimpong, a £29.5m signing from Bayer Leverkusen in summer 2025, is expected to be moved on. Lynch said he would be surprised if the club were to get to the end of the season and accept the loss on their investment, viewing it as a venture that was not successful.

Jeremie Frimpong, a 25-year-old Netherlands international, did not receive a replacement or reinforcement at Liverpool for his right-back position. He joined the club in July 2025 and has a contract that runs until 2030. The defender has earned 15 caps and scored one goal for the Netherlands. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €35.00m.
