Several clubs including Blackburn are reported to have a strong interest in James Penrice, who has reportedly been told he is free to leave AEK Athens.

Blackburn Rovers will need to act quickly if they are to sign AEK Athens left-back James Penrice, as Celtic is now also interested in signing him.

James Penrice has a complete preference for a lucrative proposal from Ibrox over competing interest from English Championship duo Middlesbrough and Blackburn.

Reporter Ben Jacobs stated that both Blackburn and Middlesbrough have enquired about AEK Athens defender James Penrice. Rangers had also previously shown interest, but the amount they could offer did not meet AEK's valuation. Penrice, whose contract runs until June 2028, made 16 league appearances for AEK in the 2025/2026 season.
