TEAMtalk understands that Everton are prepared to approve the sale of defender Jake O’Brien this week, and that several Premier League clubs have made contact regarding a potential move late in the transfer window. Sources close to the situation confirm that Everton will consider suitable offers for the Republic of Ireland international before the transfer deadline. According to sources, Crystal Palace is among the clubs to have expressed their interest. After Everton signed O’Brien for £17 million in 2024, a transfer valued between £30 million and £35 million would result in a profit for the club. It is understood that O’Brien is open to a transfer that would provide more consistent playing time in a central defensive position, and talks are currently at an early stage.

According to Team Talk, Crystal Palace are one of two teams being monitored in the pursuit of Jake O'Brien, as the club is seeking a centre-back before the summer window closes. O'Brien has a history with Crystal Palace, having joined the club from Cork City when he was 20 years old. It is said that clubs in France and Italy are also interested in the player but might have difficulty meeting Everton's asking price. Jake O'Brien joined Everton for a fee of £17 million in 2024, and it is thought that a deal worth £20 million could be sufficient to complete a transfer.

Crystal Palace are reportedly one of several clubs interested in Everton's 25-year-old defender Jake O'Brien, with Everton expected to consider offers for him ahead of the transfer deadline. The Irish international is attracting interest from clubs in both England and Europe. Sunderland are also considered to be interested in the situation. O'Brien is not actively attempting to secure a transfer, but it is understood that the player is becoming more frustrated about not being given the opportunity to play in his natural centre-back position, despite having only joined Everton in July 2024. Everton would not permit O'Brien to leave unless they have secured a replacement. O'Brien has 17 caps for Ireland, his contract runs until 2028, and he has a current Transfermarkt market value of €18.00m.
