Gigi Becali, the owner of FCSB, has identified Hrvoje Smolcic, a 25-year-old Croatian central defender from Eintracht Frankfurt, as a potential acquisition target. FCSB has submitted an offer of 1 million euros for Smolcic, who is contracted with the German club until June 2027. Smolcic joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 from Rijeka for 2.5 million euros and participated in 32 Bundesliga matches. Last season, he was loaned to LASK Linz and competed against FCSB in the Europa League playoffs. Nevertheless, concerns about his transfer have emerged due to health issues. Anderlecht reportedly withdrew their interest last summer after he did not pass a medical examination, and LASK refrained from activating the purchase option for the same reason. Currently, Smolcic's value is estimated at 2 million euros on Transfermarkt, yet Frankfurt appears open to releasing him for half that amount. Alongside FCSB's proposal, Polish club Jagiellonia Białystok has also been recently associated with the defender.
