FCSB's patron, Gigi Becali, has publicly expressed interest in signing 29-year-old French-Congolese striker Steven Nsimba from rival club Universitatea Craiova. Becali stated his desire to have the player in the Romanian champions' squad and considers him superior to other recently analyzed options, such as Al-Hamlawi. He described Nsimba as more technical, stronger, and a better goalscorer. Becali also revealed that he has discussed the subject with Mihai Stoica ("MM"). Becali is looking for a similar profile of player because he is not willing to pay a large transfer fee. Nsimba had rejected an offer from China during the winter. In January 2026, reports indicated Chinese club Zhejiang FC offered €1.2 million for the player, while Universitatea Craiova's asking price was reportedly set at €1.3 million.
