Hjalmar Ekdal Transfer from Burnley to SV Werder Bremen
An injury to Amos Pieper has prompted SV Werder Bremen's interest in signing Hjalmar Ekdal from FC Burnley. Sporting director Clemens Fritz has confirmed that the club is now exploring solutions on the market. According to Fabrizio Romano, Werder has approached the 27-year-old Swedish central defender with a transfer request and negotiations are reportedly already underway. A move could be facilitated by the fact that Ekdal has lost his starting place this calendar year at the relegation-threatened Premier League club. The potential conditions of a transfer have not yet been made public. The defender, who has 11 caps for Sweden, is under contract at Burnley until June 2027 and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €6.00m. He has made 15 appearances in the Premier League this season.
