Left-sided defender Haydon Roberts has signed a contract to stay with Reading until the summer of 2028. Roberts came through the youth system at Brighton but was limited to games in cup competitions before loan moves to Rochdale and Derby. At Bristol City, where he signed in June 2023, most of his league appearances have been as a substitute in the Championship and his last three games have been appearances for a small number of minutes at the end of fixtures.

Bristol City have confirmed that 23-year-old English defender Haydon Roberts has completed a permanent January transfer to League One side Reading. The move was completed weeks after Bristol City manager Gerhard Struber stated he would be open to the defender leaving to find more regular playing time. Roberts, who had also been linked with an exit the previous summer before remaining at Ashton Gate, has now signed a contract at the Select Car Leasing Stadium. The former England U19 international, who joined Bristol City in July 2023, made 12 Championship appearances this season and has a current market value of €1.20m, according to Transfermarkt.
