Gustavo Hamer, a 28-year-old Dutch-Brazilian midfielder, has previously been linked with a move to Turkey. Reports in 2024 indicated that Galatasaray were interested in signing him after Sheffield United's relegation and that the Istanbul club considered activating his release clause. More recently, fellow Super Lig side Trabzonspor has been pursuing the midfielder, having shown interest for the past six months and held transfer talks during the summer. It has been claimed that Trabzonspor submitted a €6m offer. Sheffield United rejected this initial proposal but are prepared to sell for a suitable price, and the player would be interested in the transfer. Hamer's contract expires in June 2027, and he has scored two goals and provided three assists in 19 Championship appearances this season. In addition to Trabzonspor, Sevilla and Cremonese have also been recently linked with a move for the player. Reports from January 2026 suggest Sheffield United would now accept a fee as low as £6 million. This is a significant drop from the £18-20 million asking price that was reported in mid-2025.
