The Greek club Olympiacos signed the 23-year-old Colombian international central midfielder Gustavo Puerta from La Liga side Racing Santander. Olympiacos paid his €16 million release clause, with the total cost of the deal being close to €20 million, which established a new transfer record for a Greek club. Hull City was one of several clubs that had shown interest in acquiring the player, whose rights were held in a 50/50 split by Racing Santander and Bayer Leverkusen.
