Scottish defensive midfielder Graeme Shinnie has rejected a new contract offer from Aberdeen. The 34-year-old was offered a two-year deal on reduced terms which also included a coaching role at the Dons. He rejected the proposal as he wants to continue playing and was not convinced he would receive sufficient opportunities under Stephen Robinson. The Aberdeen manager, Stephen Robinson, later confirmed he could not guarantee the club captain regular game time for the upcoming season. Shinnie has instead been offered a long-term deal by newly-promoted Inverness, a move that is also practical as his family is based in the Highlands. Shinnie joined Aberdeen in July 2023 and has earned 6 caps for Scotland. His current market value is €100k, according to Transfermarkt.
