Danish club Midtjylland is interested in signing 19-year-old Uruguayan forward Gonzalo Petit from Real Betis and is willing to pay a transfer fee. However, the club needs to free up squad spots before it can proceed with signing the player. French club Olympique de Lyon is also reportedly interested in a permanent deal but faces the same squad space issue. A sale would permit Betis to recover the 4.5 million euros it paid to sign him from Nacional de Montevideo. Despite this interest, it is said that Petit and his agent prefer another loan in Spain, which would assist him in obtaining Spanish nationality. Cádiz is considered to be the club in the best position for such an agreement. Petit joined Real Betis in July 2025 and is under contract until June 30, 2031.
