Etta Eyong Transfer from Villarreal to FC Barcelona
On August 25th, journalist Fabrizio Romano suggested that FC Barcelona is considering a move for Etta Eyong, studying the possibility of signing him and then loaning him out, although no formal steps have been taken yet. Eyong's release clause is estimated to be between 5 to 10 million euros. Barcelona's interest stems from Eyong's potential, highlighted by his 19 goals and 6 assists last season with Villarreal B. However, financial fair play regulations might pose challenges to Barcelona's ability to sign and register Eyong. Additionally, with a contract extending until 2027, Eyong has made an impressive start to the 2025-26 season with Villarreal's first team, scoring once and assisting another goal in the opening matches, which could complicate negotiations. Villarreal's pursuit of Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk might affect Eyong's playing time, potentially impacting his decision. Furthermore, Cádiz, Eyong's former club, has retained 50% of any future sale proceeds, ensuring they would financially benefit from any transfer.
