Emil Riis has completed a permanent move to Leicester City from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee. The transfer was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon, just hours before Leicester's match against Plymouth Argyle. Leicester City, who are in League One, had targeted Riis for much of the transfer window. The Leicester City manager told Radio Leicester that Riis had been their first choice and expressed gratitude to the owner and others for pursuing the deal for a long time. The manager also stated that Riis could have gone to many places and played at a higher level, but he chose to join Leicester City.

According to @SkySportsLyall, Leicester City are close to signing Bristol City striker Emil Riis. It is understood that the clubs are close to reaching an agreement and that the 28-year-old has been given permission to travel for a medical with Leicester City. Riis joined Bristol City last summer and has two years remaining on his contract.

Leicester City are preparing a move to sign Emil Riis, a Danish striker from Bristol City, before the transfer deadline. It is reported that manager Russell Martin has identified the 28-year-old as a primary target to improve his attacking options. Leicester are aiming to act before other clubs from the Football League and Europe and could make a bid within hours as the 1 September deadline approaches. Riis joined Bristol City in July 2025. His standing in the team at Ashton Gate has diminished, and he is now competing for the position of third-choice striker. It is believed that the player could be interested in a move in search of regular first-team football. Despite having a contract until 2028, Bristol City may allow him to leave as replacements have already been signed. The player is an uncapped Denmark international. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €6.00m.
