Emil Hansson Transfer from Birmingham City to Excelsior
According to VoetbalPrimeur and Voetbal International, Emil Hansson has joined the attack of Excelsior. The Eredivisie club acquired the Swedish player from Birmingham City on a free transfer, and Hansson has signed a contract for six months. Hansson has already joined Excelsior's training camp and underwent a medical examination on Monday morning. His contract with Birmingham, which was set to expire in 2027, was terminated first. Excelsior is not paying a transfer fee, and because the contract is only until the summer, the club will not earn any money from Hansson.
Birmingham City winger Emil Hansson is expected to move to Dutch team Rotterdam Excelsior this January. According to Swedish outlet Expressen, the 27-year-old is set for a permanent departure from St. Andrew’s. It has been claimed that Excelsior are nearing a permanent deal for Hansson this month. An agreement has been reached between the two clubs, and the player is now expected to leave English football. The winger’s time at St. Andrew’s will come to a permanent end, making the move to the Eredivisie.
According to Swedish outlet Expressen, Emil Hansson will be recalled from his loan at Blackpool and transferred to Excelsior.
Emil Hansson, who is 27 years old, is set to sign for Excelsior from Birmingham City, which will facilitate his return to the Eredivisie. The Swedish player reportedly had no future at the Championship club and also had an unsuccessful loan spell at Blackpool in League One this season. Hansson was previously sold to Birmingham City by Heracles Almelo in the summer of 2024 for a fee of almost two million euros. Although it is not yet clear if the move to Excelsior will be a loan or a permanent transfer, the involved parties have reached an agreement on the terms. The deal will be finalized soon if no unexpected issues arise, and Hansson is expected to be presented by Excelsior within a few days.
