According to Sky, Borussia Dortmund has identified Elias Baum of Eintracht Frankfurt as a potential replacement for Yan Couto, should a buyer be found for the 24-year-old. Dortmund's sporting director, Ole Book, is familiar with the 20-year-old German right-back from their time together at SV Elversberg. However, acquiring the four-time U21 international would be difficult, as Eintracht Frankfurt is generally not interested in letting the player leave. It is also said that the new coach, Adi Hütter, has a high opinion of the young player. Baum is under contract with Frankfurt until 2028 and has a current market value of €4.00m on Transfermarkt. Other German clubs, including Schalke 04 and SV Werder Bremen, have also been linked with the player.
