Djibril Sow: Sevilla Contract Extension

After last season concluded, 28-year-old midfielder Djibril Sow publicly announced his availability on the transfer market, citing a desire to leave Sevilla to challenge for titles and play in European competitions. Just three months later, however, he reversed his decision and will remain with the club, having signed a one-year contract extension. This new deal defers his salary to aid the club's financial situation regarding player registrations. The primary motivation for his change of heart is to secure adequate playing time ahead of the upcoming World Cup, hoping to be selected for the Swiss national team. Throughout the summer transfer window, Sow garnered interest from various clubs, notably VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund. His market value is currently estimated by Transfermarkt at €7.50m.
