David Affengruber Transfer from Elche to Manchester United
Manchester United are impressed with David Affengruber's performances and are looking to sign him to improve their defensive unit. While convincing the defender to join might not be too difficult, Elche do not want to sell the player during the January transfer window as they would struggle to replace him midway through the season.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United are plotting a move for Elche's 24-year-old Austrian centre-back, David Affengruber, who they have reportedly identified as a priority option to strengthen their defence. The publication describes Affengruber's recent performances as exceptional, and it is also claimed that Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are keen on the player. His current price is stated to be €15million (£13m / $17.5m), a figure that could reportedly increase significantly if his form continues. While acquiring a new centre-back in 2026 is a priority for Manchester United, sources have indicated that the club will likely wait until the summer, with a new midfielder understood to be the main focus for the January window. Affengruber, who joined Elche on a free transfer from Sturm Graz in 2024, has a contract with the Spanish club until June 30, 2026, and a current market value of €7.5 million, according to Transfermarkt.
