Danilo Transfer from Nottingham Forest to Olympique Lyonnais
Danilo was supposed to join Olympique Lyonnais as part of a transaction with Nottingham Forest. However, the relegation decision by DNCG, which was later annulled, affected Lyon's transfer plans.
At the start of the summer transfer window, it was said that Olympique Lyonnais would continue dealings with Nottingham Forest by acquiring goalkeeper Matt Turner and midfielder Danilo for approximately 30 million euros. However, due to the reorganization at Lyon to maintain their position in Ligue 1, owner John Textor has been removed from his management role and can no longer enforce his decisions. Danilo was initially expected to join Lyon.
According to L'Équipe, there is a potential transfer in the works for Danilo to move to Olympique Lyonnais. Danilo, a 24-year-old left-footed Brazilian midfielder, is currently contracted until 2029. Represented by agent Giuliano Bertolucci, Danilo is considered to have an ideal profile to bolster Olympique Lyonnais' midfield, thanks to his athletic and technical skills. Despite suffering an ankle injury and participating in only 8 Premier League matches last season, he has reportedly agreed to make the move to Ligue 1. However, the transfer is dependent on Olympique Lyonnais being released from financial restrictions by the DNCG. The estimated transfer fee for Danilo is around 25 million euros.
Olympique Lyonnais has submitted a 25 million euro proposal to Nottingham Forest for the transfer of Danilo. The club plans to pay the amount in four installments. Danilo, who joined Nottingham Forest in January 2023 for approximately 20 million euros, has participated in 13 matches this season. Despite suffering a long-term ankle injury, he has drawn the attention of Olympique Lyonnais. The French club, under the leadership of John Textor, has a history of successful transactions with Nottingham Forest, having previously acquired players such as Orel Mangala and Moussa Niakhaté. While the potential transfer of Danilo is generating excitement among fans, it is part of Lyon's strategic initiative to bolster their team for the forthcoming season, where they intend to compete in the UEFA Europa League.
