The 32-year-old's contract is set to expire at the end of the season. He has a lower standing in the team selection at his club, having made just two appearances in the Championship this season. According to sources cited by Football Insider, League Two club MK Dons are in the strongest position to sign the centre-back. Their manager Paul Warne is known to admire the player from their time together at Derby. Nelson, who joined Derby in July 2023 and has one cap for England's U18 side, has a current market value of €300k, according to Transfermarkt.
