Cuiabano Transfer from Nottingham Forest to Botafogo

Globo.com reported that Cuiabano had a natural priority to return to Botafogo, and that the club cannot register players because of a transfer ban. His staff does not want to wait for Botafogo any longer and has begun looking at other options.

According to ESPN BR, Nottingham Forest will only agree to a permanent sale of Cuiabano for ten million euros (R$ 63.4 million). Cuiabano is a target for his former club, Botafogo, and for Vasco.

Botafogo is in constant conversation with Nottingham Forest regarding left-back Cuiabano. According to sources heard by ge, Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest, has no interest in selling Cuiabano. The player's staff views a possible return to Brazil positively for the chance to gain more playing time. Botafogo still holds 30% of Cuiabano's economic rights, and discussions with Forest about his future are continuing on an informal level.

Globo.com reports that Cuiabano gives preference to Botafogo for a possible agreement if he returns to Brazil. According to the report, this is due to his history at the club in 2024 and 2025. Cuiabano was a Brazilian and Libertadores champion at General Severiano.

Botafogo is competing with Vasco to sign left-back Cuiabano from Nottingham Forest. According to ESPN, Cuiabano's future at the English club is undefined, and he prefers a return to Brazil rather than moving to another club in Europe. 'Canal do Medeiros' initially reported Botafogo's interest, which was confirmed by ESPN. Botafogo wants Cuiabano on loan, but Nottingham Forest would only accept a sale. Cuiabano was at Botafogo until December and returned to Nottingham Forest after his loan ended. He is expected to be negotiated.

According to Globo.com, left-back Cuiabano is listed on Nottingham Forest's website as being on loan to Botafogo until the end of 2026. The player was negotiated with the English club in September 2025. Botafogo's management had planned to talk with Nottingham Forest at the end of the 2025 season to understand the viability of extending the loan. To date, Botafogo has not confirmed the player's return or the extension of the loan, and there has not been an official statement from the English club. The Rio club desires the continued presence of Cuiabano at Botafogo.

Botafogo is interested in a new loan for left-back Cuiabano. Nottingham Forest acquired Cuiabano in late August and loaned him to the Brazilian club four days later. The decision for another loan belongs to the English team, as Cuiabano is scheduled to return to them in early January for an evaluation by the new coaching staff. After his last game, the player stated on social media that he feels his time with Botafogo has not ended.
