The two worked together when Ronan was on loan at St Mirren from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 2021/22 season. Aberdeen had previously shown interest in keeping Ronan in the Premiership after his time with St Mirren, but he chose to make a permanent move to the MLS. Aberdeen will now need to negotiate a deal with Colorado Rapids for the 28-year-old, who is also known to Aberdeen's sporting director, Lutz Pfannenstiel, from his time in the MLS with St Louis City. Ronan joined the American club in January 2023, and his contract runs until December 2026. His current Transfermarkt market value is €1.20m.
