The Charleston Battery have reached an agreement with Scottish Premiership side Hibernian FC for the transfer of forward Colton Swan at the end of the 2026 USL Championship season and playoffs, the clubs confirmed Sunday. Charleston is set to receive a six-figure fee for the transfer and retain a sell-on clause as part of the deal. The agreement will enable Swan to finish his 2026 campaign in the Lowcountry before departing for the Scottish capital when the winter FIFA transfer window opens in January. Both Hibernian Head Coach David Gray and Sporting Director Malky Mackay spoke highly of Swan’s abilities and his capability to transition his game to the European stage. Club President Lee Cohen stated that Colton is the fourth player the club has transferred in the last three years. Head Coach Ben Pirmann commented on the significance of the transfer for Colton and the club.

On Monday, Tom Bogert of The Athletic reported that 19-year-old forward Colton Swan is expected to move to Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League from USL Championship side Charleston Battery. According to Bogert, MLS teams had considered signing Swan before Hibernian made a more attractive offer. The transfer seems to be a result of a partnership established between the Battery and Hibernian in 2020, which includes player development and scouting to provide a direct pathway to Europe for Charleston's players.
