Charlton Athletic have identified Chiedozie Ogbene, a 29-year-old Republic of Ireland international from Ipswich Town, as a primary target before the transfer deadline on Tuesday. This follows a proposed deal for Crystal Palace's Jesurun Rak-Sakyi which did not proceed. Any potential agreement for Ogbene would be a temporary transfer for the season. Ogbene moved to Ipswich from Luton Town in the summer of 2024 for a fee of £8 million and has two years left on his contract. He is now considered available for transfer after a period affected by injuries and a loan at Sheffield United last season. It is believed that Charlton are only targeting a loan deal. They could face competition from Stoke City, as the East Anglian Daily Times recently reported that the club has an interest in the winger. Derby County have also been linked with Ogbene.
