Carlos Baleba Transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion to Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Brighton's Carlos Baleba. TEAMtalk has reported that Spurs consider Baleba to be a central part of a long-term revamp of their midfield. Tottenham are aware that signing him will be expensive, due to Brighton's success in maximising player value.
Tottenham Hotspur sources insist there is little chance the club would meet Brighton & Hove Albion’s £100million (€114m / $132m) valuation of Carlos Baleba, though he is a player in whom they have some interest. Spurs have expressed interest, but Brighton’s stance means a move for Baleba is currently unlikely unless the fee is reduced. Sources believe that while Spurs are planning to spend a large amount of money across the next two windows, Baleba’s current valuation is not compatible with those plans for the January window.
Tottenham perceives a potential opportunity to compete with Manchester United for the transfer of Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba. According to another source, Tottenham are monitoring Baleba’s situation. They perceive an opportunity could arise if United decides to focus on other targets. Brighton will insist on their €100m valuation for Baleba. The club does not see his recent performances as a major concern, as they feel they have a €100m asset, and clubs considering a deal for a lower price should not expect it to be accepted. Brighton might be reluctant to proceed with a sale as they do not want to sell in January, but in the past they have sold key players like Moises Caicedo if the money and timing is right for them.
Carlos Baleba is reportedly on Tottenham's radar. Brighton has set his price at over 100 million euros.
