Callum Wilson Transfer from West Ham United to Celtic
Callum Wilson is a free agent as his pay-per-play contract with West Ham has ended. Former Celtic defender Alan Stubbs has supported the club making a move for Wilson, believing the striker’s experience, physical presence, and scoring instinct make him a strong fit for O’Neill’s immediate needs. Alan Stubbs told RecordSport that if Celtic were to sign Wilson and he played at the level he is capable of, he would be the best striker in Scotland. Stubbs suggests a six-month contract at Celtic at the end of the season.
Former Celtic player Chris Sutton has suggested the club should consider signing Callum Wilson, a 33-year-old former England striker. It is reported that Wilson is nearing a mutual contract termination with West Ham United. Wilson, who has 9 caps and 2 goals for his country, joined the Premier League side on a free transfer from Newcastle United during the summer, has scored only three goals, and was recently left out of the matchday squad. Sutton acknowledged that Wilson has been injury-prone but argued that Celtic should take a risk on him. Sutton also stated there was talk of the player's contract ending at West Ham. Transfermarkt estimates the centre-forward's current market value to be €5.00m.
