Wrexham have been linked with a move for Preston’s 30-year-old English midfielder, Ben Whiteman. Manager Phil Parkinson has made signing a midfielder a priority, but the two clubs have been unable to agree on a fee for the North End skipper. It is understood that a potential contract offer may tempt Whiteman to move to the Racecourse Ground. There is also a possibility Wrexham could pursue West Brom's Jayson Molumby, although securing both players could depend on outgoings and financial viability. Whiteman joined Preston in January 2021 and his contract runs until June 2027. His current market value is €2.00m, according to Transfermarkt. Watford have also been linked with the player.
