PSV has become the leading candidate to sign 26-year-old Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi and is in negotiations with Girona to complete a deal before other interested clubs can intervene. The Eindhoven club has submitted a formal offer, and talks between the two clubs are ongoing. Ounahi's departure was expected following Girona's relegation to Segunda. During the summer, other clubs such as Ajax, Hull City, Ipswich Town, and Al-Ittihad, as well as some teams from LaLiga, showed interest in the midfielder. PSV will not meet the player's €25 million release clause, but Girona expects a significant fee, particularly after his performance at the World Cup. While a final agreement has not been reached, PSV's recent concrete proposal has made them the leading contender to sign the player. Ounahi, who has 55 caps and 11 goals for Morocco, joined Girona in August 2025 and has a contract with the club until 2030; his current Transfermarkt market value is €18.00m. Recent reports from August 2026 suggest he could be available for approximately €10 million, while in July 2026 his release clause was also cited at €20 million. He originally transferred to Girona from Marseille for a reported €6 million in August 2025.
