Sparta's technical director, Gerard Nijkamp, has confirmed that nineteen-year-old Dutch-Moroccan winger Ayoub Oufkir will transfer to AZ in January. This confirmation followed a report from Voetbal International earlier in the week which stated the fee for the player would be approximately five million euros. Speaking on Goedemorgen Eredivisie, Nijkamp did not confirm the exact sum but compared the amount to the deal for Maduka Okoye and described it as a next step for Sparta. Nijkamp acknowledged that Oufkir's departure might be seen as early as he is not a regular starter, but explained that the player's significant potential is shown in data. This season, the Netherlands U21 international has made 13 appearances in the Eredivisie, contributing one goal and two assists. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €1.20m. Nijkamp suggested that if Oufkir were to play a full season, he might become unaffordable for the Dutch market, creating a limited window for a club like AZ to acquire him.
