A report by the Sunderland Echo states that six Championship clubs are interested in Sunderland's English goalkeeper Anthony Patterson. The clubs are reportedly Derby County, Millwall, Southampton, Coventry City, West Brom, and Hull City. The report also indicates that Sunderland has placed a valuation of £8m-£10m on the 26-year-old and that there is hope from the player’s side for the club to be realistic about a transfer back to the second tier. Southampton's interest is dependent on the potential departure of Aaron Ramsdale, while Millwall, where Patterson is on loan, could pursue a permanent structured deal if they are promoted. Derby County are among the clubs monitoring the situation. However, Patterson's departure could be delayed if Sunderland's primary goalkeeper, Robin Roefs, leaves, because the club would then need to secure a replacement. According to Transfermarkt, the former England U21 international has a current market value of €8.00m. An asking price of around €23.5 million was reported in September 2024.
