Mattie Pollock was the subject of transfer speculation involving Championship rivals Derby County until the final days of the transfer window, but he had decided much earlier that he would remain at Vicarage Road after being made captain early in the summer.

Pete O’Rourke reports that Derby is interested in Mattie Pollock, a 24-year-old English centre-back who plays for Watford. Derby is one of several clubs, including Wrexham and Millwall, interested in signing the Watford centre-back before the window closes. It is understood that Watford is reluctant to lose the player, who joined the club in July 2021 and is contracted until 2029. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €2.00m.
