Johnston, who represents Canada internationally and has excelled at Celtic Park since joining from CF Montreal in January 2023, became noticed by these clubs following his impressive performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Both Fulham and Ipswich had shown interest in the 26-year-old full back during the January transfer window and intend to reconsider the possibility of signing him at the season's end. Johnston is contracted with Celtic until June 2029, having signed a new deal in November, which positions Celtic advantageously in any forthcoming negotiations.
