VfB Stuttgart intensively considered signing 24-year-old Portuguese centre-forward Fábio Silva in the summer of 2025. It was reported that the club decided against a transfer because Silva was injured and their need for a new attacker was considered manageable.

Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth recently confirmed that they had evaluated the player a year ago. Silva ultimately transferred from the Wolverhampton Wanderers to Borussia Dortmund for a 22 million euro fee. His contract with the club is valid until June 30, 2030, and he has one cap for Portugal.
