Crystal Palace explore late move for Celtic's Auston Trusty

The defender is a potential transfer target as the club continues its search for defensive reinforcements.

Crystal Palace have explored a potential late move for Celtic's 27-year-old Auston Trusty as they continue their search for defensive reinforcements for Oliver Glasner’s backline ahead of the transfer deadline. The club's need has been increased by the recent departure of Marc Guehi to Manchester City. Palace’s recruitment team have monitored a number of centre-back options, including Trusty, Joel Ordonez, and Josh Acheampong. The South London club has also opened discussions with Brentford over a possible move for Ethan Pinnock.

Trusty is a player of particular interest to Crystal Palace, who have noted the American defender's composure and physicality. While a formal bid has not yet been made, he is on their shortlist as the deadline approaches. Trusty, who joined Celtic in August 2024, has made 16 appearances in the Scottish Premiership this season and is under contract until June 2029. His last transfer with a fee was a €5.8M move from Arsenal to Sheffield United in August 2023. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €5.00m. Lazio, Valencia, and Fiorentina have also been recently linked with the defender.
