Coventry City has identified Vasilije Kostov, an 18-year-old Serbian attacking midfielder from Red Star, as a potential signing. The club's sporting director, Dean Austin, and his team have broadened their scouting network in Europe to identify young talents, and Kostov is reportedly one of several names on their extensive list. According to the portal ontheminute.com, Coventry is closely monitoring the teenager's quick development in Serbia. It is also mentioned that individuals at the club are impressed by Kostov's composure, his sharp movement between the lines, and his effect in senior football. He has recorded four goals and two assists in his first eight top-flight appearances this season.
Championship club Birmingham City is also monitoring the player. In January, Red Star's general director Zvezdan Terzić said that the club had received a €20,000,000 offer for Kostov. Terzić also stated in June that they would not sell the player for a lower amount, suggesting that only clubs from the English Premier League, Germany, or Portugal would be able to afford him. Red Star is reportedly not under pressure to sell, as Kostov has a contract until 2028. The Serbian international has four caps for his country and a current market value of €25.00m according to Transfermarkt. A reported €20 million bid from Arsenal was rejected in March 2026, and in September 2026, Monaco was reportedly associated with a €10 million bid.
