Valentín Barco Transfer from Strasbourg to Chelsea
According to DirecTV Sports, Liam Rosenior has already requested Valentin Barco from the Chelsea management. The media outlet specifies that if Chelsea's management agrees, the operation is not expected to have many problems, as BlueCo would negotiate the transfer with BlueCo. Valentin Barco is described as one of the key players at Strasbourg this season, with 22 appearances, 2 goals, and 4 assists in all competitions. Strasbourg exercised the purchase option for the Argentinian for 10 million euros last summer and should make a capital gain.
Marc Keller responded to an English rumour suggesting Valentín Barco could join Chelsea in the winter at the request of Rosenior. Keller stated that Barco will not leave in January. He also said that if Strasbourg needs to recruit, they will do so with the support of the shareholder.
According to 90min, Chelsea had an interest in Valentín Barco in 2023 when it was clear he would leave Boca Juniors. Barco eventually moved to Brighton & Hove Albion, where he did not establish himself, and an underwhelming loan to Sevilla followed. In early 2025, Strasbourg acquired Barco on loan and finalized a permanent transfer a few months later. Valentín Barco is currently a key component of Rosenior’s system at Strasbourg and is being monitored by Chelsea.
Valentin Barco is considered an alternative to Adam Wharton for Chelsea.
CaughtOffside claim that Chelsea have identified Valentin Barco as a possible signing for next summer, and that the club believes he could be a good addition to the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge. The club are reportedly keen to strengthen their midfield amid Romeo Lavia’s continued injury problems. Chelsea are also the owners of Strasbourg.
Chelsea are still closely monitoring Strasbourg's 21-year-old midfielder, Valentín Barco. A source with links to the agent industry states that the Argentine international is a high priority for Chelsea and that Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid have also been watching him. The source also indicated that Strasbourg will demand a large fee as Barco is under contract until 2029.
