West Ham was close to acquiring Toni Fruk. The offers made, including one from West Ham, were serious and were in the range of what Rijeka wanted, or even better. All parties, including Fruk, the president, and the club, were very disappointed that the transfer did not happen, because the offers were very concrete.

A report from Germanijak states that West Ham seriously considered Toni Fruk and were preparing an offer for the Croatian international on the last day of the transfer window. The report adds that they ultimately did not send the offer, but that West Ham's involvement was serious.

The future of Rijeka's 25-year-old Croatian attacking midfielder Toni Fruk is uncertain with the transfer deadline approaching. While interest from West Ham and Venezia has been mentioned, these possibilities are considered less concrete than the situation involving Wrexham. The Championship club is seriously interested in Fruk, but he is reportedly their second-choice target. Fruk, who has been capped seven times for Croatia, has a contract with Rijeka until June 2027 and has started the 2026/27 season with one goal and one assist in three league games. His current Transfermarkt market value is €9.00m, and reports from July 2026 stated Rijeka's asking price was between €9.5-12 million.
