Tjaronn Chery Transfer from Antwerp to NEC

Tjaronn Chery is reportedly on the verge of signing a contract with NEC.

Tjaronn Chery has successfully passed his medical and physical tests at NEC. He is expected to sign a contract for three years, which was reportedly the decisive factor for his decision to leave Antwerp after just one season. Antwerp will receive approximately 500,000 euros from his transfer.

According to Voetbal International, Tjaronn Chery might leave Antwerp FC after just one season to return to NEC. Medical and physical tests are scheduled this weekend. Antwerp FC is expected to receive around 500,000 euros from Chery's departure.

NEC Nijmegen is showing persistent interest in Tjaronn Chery and has already made a bid of 500,000 euros, which was rejected by Antwerp. NEC has a two-year contract ready for Chery, which is very tempting for him. His current contract with Antwerp has just one year remaining, and Chery has expressed a desire to extend it by another year. Antwerp is open to this, but NEC needs to offer enough to convince Antwerp to let him go.

Tjaronn Chery, a 36-year-old midfielder, is currently playing for Antwerp after being transferred for free from Maccabi Haifa. He has attracted interest from NEC, a club he was loaned to for half a year last season. NEC is hopeful for his return after good discussions. Chery is open to a contract extension until 2027, despite a potential salary reduction from his current €650,000 per year. Antwerp might require a limited transfer fee, as his market value is estimated at half a million euros.

Tjaronn Chery, despite being 37 years old, has garnered significant interest from his former clubs, FC Twente and NEC. He has made his demands clear, seeking job security with a contract lasting until at least mid-2027. Both NEC and Twente are willing to meet these demands. For Antwerp, this means they must extend his current contract by at least a year to retain him. If Antwerp doesn't comply, Chery is likely to leave.

NEC is interested in re-signing Tjaronn Chery, who was on loan with them last season. The club aims to secure a spot in the European Conference League and hopes that Chery's familiarity with the club will influence his decision to return. Meanwhile, FC Twente is also pursuing Chery to fill the void left by Sem Steijn's departure. Chery, currently under contract with Antwerp until 2026, played a pivotal role this season, contributing eighteen goals and nine assists in 43 matches. Despite his importance, it is unclear if Antwerp is willing to release him.
