Lamptey, who holds both English and Ghanaian citizenship, has seen his career impacted by two major injuries. The 23-year-old right-back, who moved to Brighton in 2020 after progressing through Chelsea's youth ranks, was sidelined due to a muscular thigh injury in the 2020-2021 season and a knee injury in 2023. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value at €11 million. Should Lamptey make the move to Fiorentina, Niccolò Fortini might be loaned out to another Serie A club for a season. Torino, Empoli, Genoa, and Cagliari have shown interest in Fortini, though he reportedly prefers to remain in Florence.
