Coventry City are prepared to break their club transfer record to sign 27-year-old Welsh international Sorba Thomas from Stoke City this summer, following their promotion to the Premier League. Coventry are the leading club in the effort to sign the winger, with a potential fee mentioned as being around €25m (£22m). This would significantly surpass the club's current record of approximately £8m, which was set in 2000 for Craig Bellamy. Fulham and Sunderland are also interested, but it is reported that the newly-promoted side has the most serious interest in Thomas. Thomas joined Stoke City in July 2025 and has a contract until 2028. He has 25 caps and two goals for Wales. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €10.00m.
