Hearts may not sign their transfer target, Ugandan international Rogers Mato, as Trabzonspor has also begun efforts to sign him. It has been reported that the Premiership leaders have had two bids for the 22-year-old winger rejected by his North Macedonian club, Vardar, with the most recent offer being approximately £400,000. Vardar has stated that they will not permit the forward to depart for less than his £1.3 million buy-out clause. Mato is the top scorer in the Macedonian First League. The Turkish side has now taken action to sign Mato and is reportedly willing to pay the required amount to sign him. Mato has 39 caps and 7 goals for Uganda. He joined Vardar in January 2025 for a fee reported to be €100,000, and his current contract runs until June 2028. Transfermarkt currently estimates his market value at €700,000.
