Reyes Cleary Transfer from Barnsley to Sheffield United

Sheffield United have shown interest in Barnsley's English winger Reyes Cleary, a former West Brom attacker. He is on the club's transfer shortlist as manager Chris Wilder wants to strengthen his attack before the winter transfer window closes. The 21-year-old has also attracted attention from Blackburn Rovers, who have had bids for him turned down. When asked by Football League World about the potential move, a Sheffield United fan pundit named Jimmy stated that Cleary is an exciting young prospect who would be a perfect match for the club. The fan pundit also suggested that the player's performance against Liverpool in the FA Cup probably increased his price. Cleary's potential arrival is seen as a way to give Sheffield United a new dimension to their attack, as he is an out-and-out winger, though the acquisition is described as likely to be expensive. The England U19 international joined Barnsley in July 2025 and is contracted until June 2028. This season, he has scored seven goals and provided two assists in five League One appearances. Bristol City and Birmingham City have also been associated with a potential transfer. In January 2026, it was reported that Blackburn had offers of €1.2 million and €1.8 million rejected. Barnsley's asking price is believed to be around €6 million, and his former club, West Brom, is reportedly due a 20% sell-on clause. According to Transfermarkt, Reyes Cleary's current market value is €150k.
