English winger Raheem Sterling was released by Chelsea on Wednesday after a prolonged period of not playing. The 31-year-old mutually agreed to terminate his contract 18 months before it was due to end. His departure followed a difficult loan spell at Arsenal and subsequently not being selected to play by Chelsea. The forward has 82 caps and 20 goals for England, and his valuation has changed significantly over time. His last permanent transfer was from Manchester City to Chelsea in July 2022 for a fee reported to be €56.2 million, and in mid-2025 Chelsea's asking price was consistently reported as £20 million (approx. €23 million). He is now a free agent. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €5.00m. SciSports' Career Advice tool lists Werder Bremen as a potential option for Sterling, giving it a Club Fit score of 76. The same data source also identifies other European clubs as possibilities, including Lyon and Como, both with a score of 78. West Ham and Brentford are ranked highest by the tool with a score of 80.
