Flamengo's Brazilian striker Pedro was the top candidate to join Ajax if the club's deal for their primary target, Marcos Leonardo, were to fail. The Al Hilal striker was Ajax's top priority, and the club would only have intensified their efforts for Pedro if Leonardo's arrival had failed. A move for the 29-year-old to Amsterdam is now considered unlikely, as Leonardo has reportedly completed his medical. Juventus is also said to be interested in Pedro, who previously played in Europe for Fiorentina.
