Botafogo is pursuing the signing of Brazilian left-back Paulinho, who is currently with Midtjylland in Denmark. Other Brazilian clubs, Coritiba and Chapecoense, have also shown interest. Despite the competition, Botafogo is considered the most likely club to sign him. The 31-year-old player joined the Danish club in July 2019 and has a contract with the team until June 2026, but he has decided he will not renew it. Paulinho is negotiating a contract termination by mutual agreement and did not participate in his team's game against Silkeborg on Sunday. He has made one appearance in the 2025/2026 Superliga season. An agreement for the termination has not been finalized, as Midtjylland is seeking 500,000 euros for an immediate release, a sum Botafogo is currently unwilling to pay. There is an expectation that the parties will eventually reach an agreement for his immediate departure.
