Austrian full-back Nikolas Veratschnig of Mainz is reportedly close to a transfer to Salzburg. The club is planning a rebuild after three seasons without a league title. The move would be a return to Austria for the 23-year-old, who was not entirely satisfied with his situation at the German club. At Mainz, he made 21 Bundesliga appearances, provided one assist, and played a total of 652 minutes. Veratschnig, who is yet to be capped by the Austrian national team, joined Mainz in July 2024 and has a contract that runs until 2028. His current market value is €2.50m, according to Transfermarkt.
