AEK Athens is reportedly interested in Nicolás Capaldo, a 26-year-old Argentine midfielder from Red Bull Salzburg, as a potential addition to their midfield. However, this move depends on whether Orbelín Pineda is sold during the summer transfer window. Capaldo, who is under contract with Salzburg until the summer of 2026, joined from Boca Juniors four years ago for a fee of 4.5 million euros. This season, he has made 39 appearances for Salzburg, scoring four goals and providing one assist. Despite being in the recovery phase from a foot injury, his future at Salzburg appears uncertain, making AEK's interest significant. Capaldo has shown his versatility by also playing as a right-back, which has contributed to his 126 appearances, 15 goals, and 10 assists for Salzburg since 2021. He is currently in the rehabilitation process from a broken toe, which he sustained in April, and has resumed running.
