Moisés Caicedo: Chelsea Contract Extension

According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Chelsea will not formally give Moises Caicedo a new contract. Instead, the club has augmented his existing terms with a pay increase to reward him for his strong performances since joining in 2023. An agreement has already been reached by the two parties. Solhekol says that Chelsea will not publicly announce this as a new contract for Caicedo.

According to Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports News, despite talk of Moises Caicedo getting a new Chelsea contract as a reward for his performances, he will not be receiving one. Solhekol states that Caicedo's current contract runs until 2032, and instead the terms of his present deal will be improved with a pay rise. This pay rise will not be announced publicly and is set to happen privately. The report describes Chelsea's contracts as heavily incentivised with relatively low base wages and rewards for good performance. Chelsea's position is that they will reward Caicedo for his good performances and maintain a great relationship with his representatives, but without announcing a new contract.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea are preparing to discuss a new contract with Moisés Caicedo, prompted by talk of interest from Real Madrid.

According to 90min, initial talks are thought to have already been held regarding a new contract for Caicedo. His current contract is valid until 2031, with the option to extend by a further year until 2032. The situation is not yet urgent because Caicedo’s existing salary is already substantial.

Chelsea are reportedly preparing to open talks over an improved contract for Moises Caicedo in a bid to cool outside interest, according to TEAMtalk. The Blues view the 23-year-old as central to their long-term project and want to lock in his future with upgraded terms despite his current deal already running to 2031. The report states that Chelsea’s hierarchy are keen to reward Caicedo and send a firm message to potential suitors ahead of the next two transfer windows. From Chelsea’s perspective, a renewed contract would not need to be purely about money, as it could also formalise sporting guarantees, role clarity, leadership responsibilities, performance incentives, and set a wage pathway that reflects Caicedo’s status without breaking internal structures.

The Blues are planning to reward him with an improved contract. Talks over new terms are set to ramp up shortly, despite his current deal running until 2031.

Chelsea have already started working internally on a new deal to be proposed to Moises Caicedo. The talks are set to start soon, focusing on giving the player a pay rise due to his status as a key player at Chelsea. Caicedo's current contract expires in 2031, and he earns around €180,000 a week.

Chelsea is aiming to extend Moises Caicedo's contract, even though he is already under contract until June 2031. The club wants to prevent him from feeling the urge to leave, which often involves a salary increase. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the London club plans to take the next step in negotiations with the Ecuadorian international, who is considered a world-class player by the Blues.

Chelsea wants to extend Moisés Caicedo's contract despite him having six years left on his current deal. Caicedo, who transferred from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2023 for 116 million euros, signed an eight-year contract at that time. Chelsea considers him one of the best midfielders in the world and wants to reward him for a strong season. Caicedo was named Player of the Year at the club. Without the extension, he is set for a salary increase if Chelsea qualifies for the Champions League, which is currently likely as they are in fifth place.
