NAC Breda expressed interest in 27-year-old German striker Mërgim Berisha as they sought a new attacker in the final stages of the transfer window following Sydney van Hooijdonk's departure. Berisha, a two-cap Germany international who was out of favor at his club TSG Hoffenheim, was a key target. He joined TSG Hoffenheim in August 2023 and his contract is set to expire in June 2027. NAC Breda had positive discussions with the striker, but he decided to join 1. FC Kaiserslautern, a club in the 2. Bundesliga. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €2.5 million. TSG Hoffenheim reportedly paid €14 million for him in August 2023.
