Mbekezeli Mbokazi, a 20-year-old South African central defender who plays for Chicago Fire, has attracted interest from ten European clubs. In addition to Rennes, the interested clubs reportedly include Club Brugge, Anderlecht, Ajax, Utrecht, Sassuolo, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, and Real Betis. Mbokazi joined the MLS club in December 2025 for a fee of approximately $3 million and has a contract until 2029 with an option for an additional season; Chicago Fire has no urgent need to sell. The South Africa international has made 14 appearances for his country, scoring one goal. He made 12 appearances in Major League Soccer and 11 in the Betway Premiership during the 2025/2026 season. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value at €3.50m.
