According to César Luis Merlo, a verbal agreement has been reached between Argentinos Juniors and Godoy Cruz for the transfer of Mateo Mendoza, a 21-year-old Argentinian centre-back. The two clubs are expected to start exchanging documents to finalize a loan deal that includes a purchase option and is set to last until December 2027. Mendoza joined Godoy Cruz in January 2024 and has made 17 appearances in the Primera Nacional during the 2025/2026 season. His current market value is listed by Transfermarkt as €2.50m. Racing Club has also been linked with the player.
